A special professional tour for Health and Medical Librarians
19-26 July 2008
Based in Reading and Cardiff
The tour will include participation in the CILIP Health Libraries Group Conference in Cardiff where there will be the opportunity to meet health information professionals from all over the UK.
Visits will be arranged to libraries in Reading, Mytchett, Oxford and London. It is hoped these will include: Prospect Park Hospital library, Reading; Royal Berks Hospital library, Reading; Cairns Library, Oxford; Oxford University Library Services Knowledge Centre; Centre for Evidence-based Medecine, Oxford; Wellcome Institute, London; Medical Research Council, London; Institute of Tropical Medicine, London; Darwin Centre, Science Museum, London; British Medical Journal, London; National Institute for Clinical Excellence, London; Army Medical Services Museum and Defence Medical Training Centre Library, Keogh Bks, Mytchett.
A Russian-speaking guide will meet participants at Heathrow and accompany the group throughout the tour. Conference interpretation from English to Russian is not expected to be available. (Special rates will be available to a participant who is a proficient interpreter willing to undertake interpretation for the group.)

19 Jul Sat Arrive London Heathrow.
20 July Sun Excursion to London - tourist sites.
21 July Mon Train to Cardiff. HLG Conference.
22 July Tue HLG Conference; train to Reading.
23 July Wed Visit to services in London.
24 July Thu Visit to Oxford facilities.
25 July Fri Visit to Reading and Mytchett facilities.
26 July Sat Return to Heathrow for Moscow.
Participants will be responsible for arranging their own flights to and from the UK and UK Visas. Invitations to support applications for UK visas will be provided.
The tour price will include all scheduled travel costs after arrival in the UK, conference registration and accommodation, hotel charges for bed and breakfast on non-conference days, all scheduled visits. Assistance can be provided to any participants who wish to extend their UK visit on a private basis.
