A special professional tour for Academic and College Librarians
21-28 June 2008
Based in Liverpool - European City of Culture 2008
The tour will include participation in the CILIP COFHE/UC&R Joint Conference “Libraries make a difference: building a learning culture”. An opportunity to meet librarians from universities, colleges and research institutes from all over the United Kingdom.
Visits to a range of academic libraries will be arranged and it is hoped these will include: University of Liverpool; Liverpool John Moores University, School of Information Science; Mersey Libraries; National Museums North; Liverpool Central Library; John Rylands Library, Manchester; Leeds Russian Archive; British Library, Boston Spa.
Social visits will include a tour of the ancient city of Chester with its Roman walls and unique shopping centre before visiting the coast and mountains of North Wales. There will also be opportunities to see many of the sites of interest in Liverpool.
A Russian-speaking guide will meet participants at Heathrow and accompany the group throughout the tour. Conference interpretation from English to Russian is not expected to be available. (Special rates will be available to a participant who is a proficient interpreter willing to undertake interpretation for the group.)

21 June Sat Arrive London Heathrow. Train to Liverpool.
22 June Sun Coach tour to Chester and North Wales.
23 June Mon a.m. Liverpool visits. Conference.
24 June Tue a.m. Liverpool visits. Conference
25 June Wed a.m. Liverpool visits. Conference
26 June Thu Manchester visits
27 June Fri Leeds, Boston Spa visits.
28 June Sat Train to London, Heathrow to Moscow.
Participants will be responsible for arranging their own flights to and from the UK and UK Visas. Invitations to support applications for UK visas will be provided.
The tour price will include all scheduled travel costs after arrival in the UK, conference registration and accommodation, hotel charges for bed and breakfast on non-conference days, all scheduled visits. Assistance can be provided to any participants who wish to extend their UK visit on a private basis.
